Artle

We've got some great news if you're a devoted museum visitor who's been caught up in the current craze for the word game Wordle.

A new Artle game using art-historical images was just released by the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. The museum reports that the game has already been a success, increasing site traffic by more than 40% since its release.

The game has a similar structure to Wordle in that players are given four chances to identify the artist of a fresh series of four works from the museum's collection each day. Sharing scores on social media is simple.

The museum claims to have hundreds of thousands of gamers from almost every nation on earth on record as of this point. A quarter continue on to browse the National Gallery's online collection, frequently for the first time, or visit the blog and events sections.
